I've been in a huge reading slump for the last several months - the best break from it has been a parenting book (TIME TO PARENT, it was great), which I read in two days. I guess self-help is easy to digest, and it was making me think and making me curious in a very easy way. I can handle audiobooks when I'm in a slump, though - when I'm driving, it's not like I'm tempted to toggle to instagram. I just finished the audiobook of ISLANDS OF ABANDONMENT by Cal Flyn, which was beautiful, fascinating, and compelling.

Ooooh, that one has been on my TBR! I will have to check it out! Though I may not be able to swing audio - for some reason, I tune audiobooks out, which feels like it's defeating the purpose.

I mostly save them for long drives and long walks, when I'm not tempted to multitask.

Smart! I have been working so much that the long walk portion of my life has taken a backseat, but I'm hopeful to get back to my afternoon strolls soon!

When I’m in a reading slump, I tend to gravitate toward middle grade novels because the font size is easier on the eyes, they usually have good pacing, and aren’t 400 pages long.

Some recs:

FRONT DESK series

PERCY JACKSON series

HAZEL HILL IS GONNA WIN THIS ONE

LANGUAGE OF SEA BIRDS

THE ONLY BLACK GIRLS IN TOWN

WHO LET THE GODS OUT series (cannot recommend the audiobooks enough)

STRANGE WORLDS TRAVEL AGENCY series

HEALER OF THE WATER MONSTER

OTHER WORDS FOR HOME

:-)
